Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 separating one from another, 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 As justification or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 The Day of Judgement. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 For a known term? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 it throws spits as (high as a huge) palace, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 40
