Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 storming tempestuously 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 excusing or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 for an appointed time? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is the day they shall not speak 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
