Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 As justification or warning, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 So shall We make the later ones to follow them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 Till a limit known? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 place on it high mountains and provide you with fresh water? 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
