In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 storming tempestuously 2 and the rain-spreading winds, 3 then the criterion (the verses of Koran), separating 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 For the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
