In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And We placed high mountains as anchors in it and gave you sweet water to drink. 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
