50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 Then by oath of those that push with a strong gust. 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 Till a limit known? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
