50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed... 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 for an appointed term? 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
