Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 proceed towards the three-pronged shadow, 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 and yellow camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
