In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 for an appointed term? 22 Eat and enjoy for a while: You are certainly sinners. 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 This is the Day of Judgement. We have assembled you all together with past generations. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
