In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 As justification or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 For a known term? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 For the living and the dead. 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
