Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then We will follow them with the later ones. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah)! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
