The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
