The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
