The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
