The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
