The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
