The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
