The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
