The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
