The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
