The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
