The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
