The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
