The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
