The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
