The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
