The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
