The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
