The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
