The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
