The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
