The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
