The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
