The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
