The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
