The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
