The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
