The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
