The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
