The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
