The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
