The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
