The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
