The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
