The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
