The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
