The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
