The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
