The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
