The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
